January 22 2025: Come with me on my writing journey!

The fourth book of my Cold Winter Grid-Down Series will be subtitled ‘The Battle of Niagara Falls!’ Come with me as I research my story and transform it to paper. I have a ‘Method Writing’ technique of living and seeing my scene locations for inspiration. Reviewers of my writing have said that my style is very visual; I lay out a scene as if the reader is watching a movie. My presence at the location allows me to have that ability.  Internet research is helpful, but that extra pizzaz must be done in person.  So it’s off to Niagara Falls we go, and it needs to be in the winter, of course!

  • 1/16 I travel to the Niagara River! The battle will be unconventional, as the series has shown so far. The pieces to the puzzle that I investigate on these four days will be unique and unexpected. Plot points will be shared, but only so much!
  • 2/1 I travel back to Evansville, Indiana, and meet with Bob Pointer, the ‘Radio Man’ of the LST-325.  Communications will be key in this book of the series. I will take residence in a cabin near the Ohio River for the entire month of February to write!
  • On 3/15, I will meet with the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation in Atlanta and fly in a Cobra Gunship Helicopter. This group has supported me throughout my writing process for the last two years, and I have volunteered at some of their airshows. On this date, they will roll out a Cobra from the hangar in a private showing so that I can experience a flight! Spoiler Alert! Book 4 expands beyond the Huey helicopter for the air battle!
  • 4/1 I travel to Port Charlotte for some sailing training. Somehow, sailing will get in this story, as in all the past ones….
  • 5/6 I will volunteer on the LST-325 for the ‘Work Week’ event. I will live on the ship for five days while completing tasks that prepare the ship for the fall cruise in September. The final touches of the book will be put in place at this time.
  • More will happen when spontaneity is added to the mix!
  • The LST-325 will travel to Cape Girardeau, St. Louis, and Montrose on the Mississippi this September, and I will be aboard for the entire trip, selling my new book!

I need a new book for the LST-325 Mississippi River Tour in September, so I am under the gun. I have an outline and a good start on several chapters already. Now, I need the fun stuff—the details. Follow my Facebook page as I put it together!
